We spent Father's Day on the island. The weather was perfect so we did a whole lot of relaxing. We visited the Petting Zoo, ate out, and lounged on the deck.
For breakfast on Sunday we drove over to the west side of the island to Sunset Resort to have their Swedish breakfast. It's such a cozy place with a beautiful view. After breakfast we walked around the grounds.
After breakfast we headed over to Jackson Harbor on the northeast side of the island. Here the kids fished off the dock with their Papa as their teacher. My little guy caught a small mouth bass but we had to send it back since it's not the bass season yet. Fun! There's also a little Maritime Museum and a fun little concession truck (we had sodas and hot pretzels). This weekend also happened to be The Kayak Marathon. The kayakers crossed Death's Door, circumnavigated the island, and made this trip; from Jackson Harbor to Rock Island. We happened to be there to see them off.
We also got to see a family of swans!
Washington Island certainly is a special place.
